COLLABORATIONS IN HEALING

Whether you are a clinician with a client who would benefit from the support of a treatment team and residential wrap-around care, or you are personally seeking treatment and have existing clinicians you would like to continue working with, we are one of the few treatment centers that invite collaborations in healing!

We welcome our client's existing doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and facilitators to join their treatment team... to bring their learnings and insight about the client to help the rest of the team get to know the individual in the quickest most efficient manner... to be a part of building the team... to be a part of this step in their journey, rather than cut out until they leave inpatient care.

COLLABORATION INSTEAD OF DISCONNECT

Decades ago, as our co-founder Berni Fried, began her career as an LMFT specializing in addiction, crisis, trauma, and complex PTSD, she became frustrated with the system that existed for getting additional support for higher acuity clients or clients in crisis.

As any of her clients needed more support than one therapist could offer or would benefit from residential care, she would help them check in to residential treatment and the experience became a black box. She was barely able to communicate with her clients, barely updated on their treatment, and basically shut out of the entire process despite sometimes having worked many years to build trust and establish rapport with these clients. She would be replaced by an on-staff therapist who would not have any history or connection with the client and would have to start at ground zero instead of working with Berni to gain insight.

Her work with her client was interrupted, and upon the client's release, it would take unnecessary time and effort to pick up where the work was left off. As described in our Philosophy: Through The Eyes of Love, this activates attachment wounds both upon entering the treatment center and upon leaving.

RED DOOR LIFE'S ORIGINAL COLLABORATION: ALEX SHOHET & BERNI FRIED

Despite their shared passion for helping people transform their lives, our co-founders Alex Shohet and Berni Fried, have two very different brains. This contrast and juxtaposition creates a dynamic that benefits Red Door Life clients in profound ways. Simply put, Alex is a thinker and Berni is a feeler. Alex is completely cognitive in the way he interprets and distills information whereas Berni attunes to the often seemingly imperceptible signals arising in one’s nervous system. In therapeutic terms, this is considered a top-down and a bottom-up approach.

What is interesting is that despite these very different ways of processing what they are looking at, they often arrive at the same conclusion about what a client is struggling with under the surface of their presenting symptoms. Because they have different backgrounds, different lenses, and completely opposite ways of distilling information- together, they are able to bring more holistic solutions to their clients.

Alex focuses on fostering entrepreneurship, restoring hope of a bright future, and reestablishing healthy balance and circumstances in many aspects of the client’s life through The 12 Dimensions of Human Health and Wellness, while Berni works with the deeply encoded patterns and conditioning within one’s nervous system and the subtle energies that rise in disruptive ways as established through the brilliant work of IFS, Internal Family Systems by Richard Schwartz.

It is their unique minds, varied lenses, and contrasting approaches that create the foundation of all the Red Door Life represents, bringing so much more dimension to the trauma healing and addiction recovery process, and improving outcomes. 

This is where our spirit of collaboration comes from as we welcome professionals to bring their clients and be a part of multidisciplinary teams, and we welcome our clients to bring their existing clinicians.
