COMPARE MODELS OF CARE

It is a little-known fact that there are different models of care employed by different treatment centers. Most commonly- car wash- explain.

 Models: 

 Door #1- “Good-Luck With That” no sober community, no attachment model just housing, just bring them in, maybe they stay safe, maybe not, no support. Pay few hundred dollars a month, no money, no housing. See you later.  No attachment means, no therapist or therapist just hands off, so attachment broken.  Could be longer team, 90 days +.

 

Door #2- “Car Wash” no community no attachment model.  Come on in, 30 days out you go brand spanking new.  Once they’re gone, out of sight out of mind.  You’ll do great, don’t worry. Just hang in there (“on your own” model).  No attachment means, no therapist or therapist just hands off not part of interdisciplinary team, so attachment broken.  

 

Door #3-  “Car Wash” / “Human Puppy Mill” hybrid some community but “negative” influence model, churn insurance up and down the LOC spectrum masquerading as the “we got you covered, we’ll take care of you no matter what” model.  No attachment means, no therapist or therapist just hands off not part of interdisciplinary team, so attachment broken.  30 days in treatment center ,cycle out to sober living house, leave hours, relapse, back into treatment center.  Rinse and repeat.

 

Door #4-  “High-End luxury playground”, short-term do whatever you want and can always come here to sober up…we’ll see you again soon model.  Making plenty of money, thanks for coming.  You can always come back whenever you need to, we’re here for you… Some to no attachment, no prior therapist or therapist just hands off not part of interdisciplinary team, using in-house staff therapist, so attachment broken.  Typically 45-90 days.

 

Door #5- “Community” model, whole person multidisciplinary team attachments high level of support services including sober companions before during and after, model.  Always a part of the community, joining all activities anytime, can always call or text, team approach, companion services as and when needed.  Full support and recovery services before, during and after.  No time limit.
