COMMUNITY IS MEDICINAL

In addition to individualized treatment and leading-edge modalities, our holistic innovative model of care integrates connection and engagement.

Most people with mental health struggles and substance abuse issues suffer in isolation due to shame. Disconnection is the number one issue that inhibits recovery, worsens the impact of trauma, and worsens the chance of relapse.

Shame often prevents people from reaching out and asking for help. Problems become bigger and more overwhelming. Through community, we gain the safe support needed to help steady ourselves during times when we may be suffering with difficult challenges.

Undoing the aloneness through a culture of connection.

Treatment is not just what happens within the context of therapy, medicine is also provided by the community we build that naturally supports itself in beautiful, powerful ways. Connection in a safe environment resculpts the traumatized brain and the brain injured by substance abuse. Through community we learn we are not alone, we feel our burdens ease, our trauma lenses begin to dissolve and we learn new perspectives and ways of processing things that come up in our lives. We reconnect to our innate ability to reach for safety in others to co-regulate our nervous systems. We evolve out of our trauma responses and redevelop resiliency. The connection culture at Red Door Life extends far beyond your time in residential treatment through online weekly topical groups, Sunday dinners, and community outings and events.

Connection is a vital part of healing- it improves mental health, dissolves shame, lessens relapse rates, reduces the depths and dangers of relapse, and greatly amplifies the chance of sustainable recovery.

A healing community helps remove shame, adjusts our trauma lenses, rewires unhealthy thought patterns, and inspires us to grow and evolve as we do the work to return to our true nature.

RED Door LIfe: CONNECTION culture

Through attachment-based care, Red Door Life addresses the underlying trauma, attachment wounds, and other destabilizing elements that can profoundly influence an individual's emotional and social development throughout their life. Reconnecting to a sense of belonging, of community, is a big part of this. A rising tide lifts all boats,  and as a community, we can do powerful work. Our members provide medicinal peer- support for each other and form strong bonds as they participate in heartfelt ways in each other's transformation. This peer support creates a community of kindred spirits for life.

Another way we foster a culture of connection is by including your family and loved ones as part of your journey in addition to your multidisciplinary team. We focus on family dynamics, support for family members, and helping repair relationships that are ruptured by substance abuse and mental health struggles.

At Red Door Life you have a peer-support community, family integration, recovery partners, sober companions, and your individualized team built from our vast network of extraordinary doctors, therapists, psychologists, and facilitators all doing cutting-edge work and specializing in the newest evidence-based healing modalities, that you keep with you whether you are in residential treatment with us or not.

We are much more than a community of people seeking to recover from substance abuse issues and trauma, we are also an incubator of ideas, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

Connection is a key part of recovery. Being surrounded by other people who understand you, care about you, and are rooting for you is medicinal. When we can bond and feel the support of connection in a safe environment it eventually becomes our new way- a new template of navigating life.

YOUR FIRST CONNECTION WITH RED DOOR LIFE

When we hear from someone struggling with substance abuse or mental health concerns, our first thought is how do we establish a relationship with you? Each person is unique and coming to us from a different place in their journey. With reverence for your life first and foremost, we meet you exactly where you are at.

Of course, we hope you come in, detox, and get to living your best, pain-free life as soon as possible. However, we value your autonomy and understand this must happen on your own terms. We meet you with compassion and see you as a dimensional human being. Your symptoms are clues to the underlying issues that need addressing rather than signs of disease or defect. Our goal is to inspire you to participate in your recovery and manifest your full potential.

First, we want to hear your story and address immediate health or safety concerns. We invite you to speak to our co-founders, client advocates, or any of our specialized staff—all of whom are in recovery and have remarkable stories themselves. We invite you to check out our online program for a few weeks' free trial to get to know some of our facilitators and community members. You are welcome to visit our beautiful houses on Mulholland Drive for a Sunday community dinner, one of our special events, or a daily recovery meeting. Or just come by the residences and be surrounded by safe peers and recovery partners for an afternoon. Come and make some friends!

After decades of observing what goes wrong in mainstream treatment models, Red Door Life is continually seeking ways to improve recovery outcomes. If you are not ready for inpatient treatment, learn about our sober companion services and harm reduction model, if you are not ready to come in for inpatient treatment. learn more about our sober companion services and harm reduction model. Our priority is to establish a bond, stay connected, and help you stay as safe as possible.
